Father’s Day may be right around the corner, but there’s still time to plan something fun and memorable. If you are in or around the San Diego area, there is no shortage of things to do with your Dad that will show him your love and appreciation. Plus, let’s be honest, he probably has enough ties and power tools for now, so check out these unique activities and excursions in San Diego that will make this Father’s Day one for the books.

    Father’s Day Beatles Brunch

The Beatles and Dads often go hand in hand. Surprise your Dad with this awesome Beatles themed brunch at the Quartyard, located in the East Village Neighborhood of Downtown San Diego. This event features The Baja Bugs, a groovy four-piece band with an extensive knowledge of all The Beatles’ best jams. The event is free before 12pm, and five bucks at the door after 12pm. Check out more info for event here.

    Crawfish Broil

Most Dad’s like barbeque, that’s just a fact of life. But this Father’s Day, take your dad off of

grill duty and to take him this Louisiana-style crawfish broil at Saska’s, located in Mission Beach.

Tickets are limited though, so be sure to get yours ahead of time!

    Kayak to Secret Sea Caves

If your Dad is a more adventurous type, try renting some kayaks and embarking on an adventure to the hidden sea caves off of La Jolla cove. This excursion is around two hours long and will take you through the La Jolla Ecological Reserve, where you and your family will encounter beautiful marine life while on your way to any of the seven sea caves in the area. You might even see some dolphins! Book a tour here before all the kayaks are gone.

    San Diego International Beer Festival

Treat dad to some brews at the San Diego International Beer Festival, California’s largest beer festival. With over 200 breweries present, even the pickiest amateur cicerone will find something to appreciate. There is even a “best beer belly” contest that is basically designed for beer loving dads.

Mission Beach Father’s Day Cruise to Belmont Park

Pay back your dad for all of the time he spent risking his life teaching you to how to drive at this sweet Father’s Day Car Show at Belmont Park in Mission Beach. Once you are done browsing San Diego’s best automobiles, walk along the boardwalk and to any of the great bars or restaurants right around the corner from the show!

    Take a Free Brewery Tour

Treat Dad to a pint at the AleSmith Brewing Company, then afterwards enjoy a free behind the scenes tour of the brewery to see where all the magic happens. Alesmith Brewing Company will offer free tours on Father’s day every two hours from noon to 6 p.m. Just be aware that this event is strictly for ages 21 and over! Space for the tours is limited, so, as always booking ahead of time is recommended.

Jazz Brunch at the Westgate Hotel

If you want to take your Dad somewhere on the fancier side, head to the Westgate Hotel located right around the corner from the San Diego Convention Center, for their Father’s Day Jazz Brunch. A bit on the pricier side, but surely worth it, you would be enjoying the sounds of the Artsound Trio who specialize in a wonderful fusion of jazz and hip-hop. As an added bonus, the Westgate Hotel will also gift each father at the brunch a free pint of their unique Westgate beer. Be sure to try and reserve tickets ahead of time, as this event will likely fill up quickly!
